8 Source Type: Professional Publication Cues

Professional publications, also known as trade publications, are written for people working in a specific industry or profession. They often include news, trends, practical advice, and commentary relevant to that field. While they are not peer-reviewed like academic journals, trade publications can be valuable for your research papers—especially when researching real-world practices, current issues, or industry perspectives.

The media landscape has changed from traditional print media to communicating on digital platforms. Professional publications can be found on websites and in library databases. On the Canadian Nurse Association (CNA) website, you can find the Canadian Nurse issues from 1905-2018; effective 2019 the Canadian Nurse changed to the online blog format.
