We are pleased to share a Canadian edition of Child Development with a Saskatchewan focus. This textbook is being published as an open educational resource (see What are Open Textbooks for more information) for students who are studying child development. Content for this textbook was adapted from Child Growth and Development Canadian Edition (Pye, Scoffin, Quade and Krieg) and Child Growth and Development (Paris, Ricardo, Raymond, and Johnson), see acknowledgement.

This resource has been primarily adapted from the Canadian edition of Child Growth and Development with the inclusion of Saskatchewan Ministry of Education resources, policies, and curriculum documents. These additions help ensure that the material reflects both current Canadian research and the unique educational, cultural, and regulatory context of Saskatchewan.

Open educational resources allow for collaborations and improvements to textbooks on an ongoing basis rather than waiting for each subsequent edition to be released. With this in mind, we realize edits and updates will continue to be made based on social and cultural trends, as well as changes to policy and practices for Early Childhood Educators.
