Frequently Asked Questions
Studio Space and Equipment
Who do I contact about extra studio space, registration problems, scheduling, building issues, fobs/keys, room temperature, and other questions I have?
SISNC Office. Visit CB 118, call 306-585-5748 or email sis.noncredit@uregina.ca
How do I get my piano tuned?
Conservatory pianos used for voice and piano lessons are scheduled to be tuned in August of each year, pianos in other studios will be tuned by the beginning of October. All pianos in use are tuned again in April/May, depending on need.
To request tuning or maintenance for the piano in your studio, please use the Piano Tuning and Maintenance form in UR Community. Please do not approach Floyd directly, Floyd’s work on Conservatory pianos needs to be approved by the Head of the Conservatory.
Students
Why am I not getting students from the lesson placement process?
The Conservatory places students on a rotational model, however if a student names a preferred teacher in their lesson placement form that teacher is given the student automatically.
In order to place a student in your studio several things need to happen:
-
-
- SISNC needs to know you are accepting new students
- Students for your instrument need to ask for a lesson placement
- The days and times you have available for lessons need to match with a student’s request
-
How do I know who has registered and how many lessons they registered for?
You should be receiving a bi-weekly list of student registrations on Monday and Thursday mornings, if you are not receiving this email, please contact the SISNC Office to request it. The document attached to this email includes the student’s name and the number of lessons they registered for.
Why aren’t my students showing up in my scheduler?
It takes at least 1 business day for a student’s registration to be transferred into CCE Community. If your student registers the day of their first lesson, you will need to submit a manual attendance form for that day.
What do I do if my students can’t get into CCE Community?
Call IT at 306-585-4685! Their hours are Monday to Thursday 7:30am – 10:00pm, Friday 7:30am – 9:45pm. They will be able to help you quickly and effectively.
Attendance
What if I don’t mark attendance in CCE Community within 48 hours?
Use the manual attendance form linked in your CCE Community Course. Submit it as soon as you realize the 24-hour attendance window has passed. You do not need to wait until the end of the pay period.
Recitals
Can I have a studio recital?
Yes! Talk to the SISNC office about booking CB 210 for your studio recital. If CB 210 is busy or if you expect more than 90 guests at your studio recital, you also have access to CB 139 which will seat up to 120 people and has a 6′ Yamaha grand piano available. While there is a small stage in CB 139, the piano is not generally on the stage.
There is no charge for Conservatory teachers to hold a recital at the Conservatory. The Conservatory will not pay for studio recitals that are held off-site.
Payroll
How do I know what I’ve been paid for?
To access your paystub, please visit UR Self-Service . Your User ID is the same as your student/employee number. If you don’t know your ID number, please contact the University of Regina’s IT Office at 306-585-4685 for assistance.
To confirm which lessons you have been paid for, please contact Dacey Reimer, Accounts Clerk, at dacey.reimer@uregina.ca
What if my student misses a lesson payment?
Payment plans are available to students throughout the year, SISNC monitors these payments to ensure they are completed as scheduled.
When two scheduled payments in a row are missed SISNC will ask the instructor to stop teaching the student and contact the family to let them know that lessons cannot continue until the account is brought up to date. Once the account is paid off, SISNC lets both the student and instructor know that lessons can continue.
