Module 4- Completing the Electronic Death Registration and Notificatoin
EDRN is designed to improve timeliness and accuracy of death data through the implementation of an electronic process. The initiative is led by eHealth Saskatchewan’s Vital Statistics Office, the provinces organization that is responsible for registering of all Saskatchewan’s vital events (e health Saskatchewan EDRN Infosite).
EDRN will electronically replace the current paper process for both medical certificates of death and statements of death. This electronic method will significantly improve the timeliness to register a death, to minimize the delay for the production of a death certificate, to streamline the work of medical informants, coroners, and funeral directors (e health Saskatchewan EDRN Infosite).
