This casebook was developed in an effort to further the goals of pharmacy curricula related to population-based care, cultural sensitivity, interprofessional collaboration, and health and wellness. This casebook is a collaboration of over 90 individuals with expertise and training in public health pharmacy. Topics include cross-cultural care, health literacy and disparities, infectious disease, health promotion and disease prevention, medication safety, structural racism, advocacy/policy analysis, chronic disease, women’s health, rural health, and travel medicine.

Clinical pharmacology and prescribing skills : Resource for Canadian medical trainees by Ann Holbrook (OCL 1.0)

We are developing the first comprehensive open textbook on Clinical Pharmacology, Toxicology and Prescribing Competence for medical students across Canada. We have been leading a national initiative to address this huge gap in medical education, by setting competency standards nationally; organizing adaptation of leading international e-prescribing curricula for Canadian medical learning; curating case-based scenarios on key therapeutic and toxicology topics and resources; and creating of a well-validated online assessment that includes computerized marking of very short answer questions. This will be useful not only at McMaster University but for approximately 12000 medical students across the country, as well as other health professional students. Fundamentals of Nursing Pharmacology – 1st Canadian Edition  by Chippewa Valley Technical College; Amanda Egert; Kimberly Lee; and Manu Gill (CC-BY).

This adapted open-access Canadian Nursing Pharmacology textbook was designed specifically for the entry-level undergraduate nursing student. It is also applicable to other health disciplines for use. This textbook explores pharmacological concepts by showing the connections between pathophysiology, pharmacological principles, and common medication classes. This textbook also provides learning tools to improve the students retention with quizzes, videos, concept maps, drug cards, and is organized using a concept-based teaching approach.

This book is designed for entry-level undergraduate nursing students and is aligned with the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) statewide nursing curriculum for the Nursing Pharmacology course (543-103).  It explains basic concepts of pharmacology and describes common medication classes. This book is not intended to be used as a drug reference book, but direct links are provided to DailyMed, which provides trustworthy information about marketed drugs in the United States.
