Notes re: research assignments. Phlebotomy and antibiotics in IV in conjunction with home care; they are not transporting patients; work with seniors, addictions, rural, palliative medicine for pain.  Relatively new position in the industry. (Mike 2018)

  • Suggested strategies for selecting
  • Check program overview for detailed description of courses.
  • Check with program for subject suggestions, etc.
  • Check program booklists through Bookstore to see if titles are required texts that students are supposed to purchase.  If so hold till later in fiscal year and if ordering make Reference.

  • Do not purchase e-books that have a usage cap (expire after so many uses)  -Streaming video requests go to the Electronic Resources Librarian
  • Check availability of online videos through Films on Demand- check the selection to check if the title is available streaming through one of our video databases
  • Check Course Materials Lists to make sure you aren’t purchasing required texts (we can only have one copy of the required text as a reserve item in our collection)
  • Look at the previous materials that were purchased for that fund code- what vendors/publishers were used?
  • Do you have any suggestions or requests from faculty/students?

Responsibilities

  • Contact the department at least once per term. (Preferably during slower times of the year and in person)
  • Let the program know about the new materials that are available
  • Become knowledgeable about the subject matter of courses and research in the program
  • Try to get course outlines (curriculum) from faculty
  • Provide information on library policies, services and collections to the faculty in the program
  • Collect and pass along feedback and advice about library services
  • Serve as a contact point for program inquiries, which can be referred to the appropriate library staff member
