This Pressbooks Guide builds on information provided in the Pressbooks User Guide published by Pressbooks.com. It follows the steps an author might take to create or modify an open educational resource (OER) in Pressbooks. Each chapter points readers to the pertinent chapters in the Pressbooks User Guide, provides any additional information, and includes instructions specific to post-secondary faculty and staff working in Saskatchewan Polytechnic.

Inspired by BCCampus’ UDL Explorer Challenge, faculty at Saskatchewan Polytechnic piloted a 4-month project to engage participants with Universal Design for Learning. A new challenge was launched each month between January and April that urged faculty and staff to incorporate an easily achievable UDL   strategy into their classes or daily work. Our monthly themes included: Be Flexible, Provide Access, Help People Prepare, and finally in April, Reflect and Plan.
Our goal was to educate faculty and staff about UDL, and to also model UDL practices such as:

•    Offering flexibility by providing many different options to complete the challenge.
•    Using accessible language – no jargon!
•    Offering various methods to seek assistance including text, audio, or video recordings, along with a coffee break chat with Learning Technology Trainers.

In this session you will learn about our pilot project, both successes and lessons learned. You will also have the opportunity to participate in a bespoke UDL mini challenge.

Disinformation: Dealing with the Disaster is an accompaniment to an online course with the same title. The first four chapters provide an overview of fundamental concepts and phenomena that have led us to our current online information environment. Chapter 1, Information Disorder, examines information and its evolution, looking briefly at historical and contemporary trends in the areas of misinformation, disinformation, online propaganda and more. Chapter 2, Information Distribution, provides a simple overview of the news industry including journalism and editing, as well as the progression of fake news–a politicized concept which is leading us into a post-truth world. Chapter 3, Information Automation, takes readers through the automatic aspects of information exploration, examining search engines, algorithms, and associated concepts. Chapter 4, Information Manipulation, explores human interactions with information, focusing on how humans share, consume, and interact with information on social media. Each chapter provides the reader with a base level of a specific literacy (information, media, digital and meta) making them better equipped to confront disinformation. The final chapter provides readers with various frameworks and tools for effectively evaluating information and suggests that readers integrate them into their online search behaviors. 

This textbook offers a comprehensive and accessible introduction to managerial communication, designed for college and polytechnic students preparing for leadership roles in today’s diverse, digital, and team-based workplaces. Blending foundational theory with practical strategies, the book equips learners with the tools they need to communicate clearly, professionally, and ethically across a variety of business contexts.

Key topics include professional and workplace communication foundations, team collaboration and leadership communication, intercultural competence, inclusive and respectful language, and the use of AI in writing and editing. Students will learn to plan and revise business documents such as emails, memos, reports, and proposals, and develop strong presentation and public speaking skills. Special attention is given to communication in virtual environments, writing with clarity and purpose, using visual aids effectively, and conducting and participating in interviews. With a focus on real-world application and workplace readiness, this textbook helps students build the communication confidence needed to lead teams, manage relationships, and contribute meaningfully in a variety of professional settings.
