This book offers a general introduction to illustration for the college-level student, with guidance for faculty using this book. Students will learn the basics of putting together illustrations for various purposes as well as professional aspects of the field. It includes assignments in botanical, poster, middle grade narrative, comic and picture book illustration, as well as illustration for self promotion. Student contributors offer their reflections on assignments and examples of their work.  Chapters on illustration for picture books, comics, and graphic novels are forthcoming.

Interpreting Love Narratives in East Asian Literature and Film by John R. Wallace (CC BY-NC) .

This book explores the role of traditional East Asian worldviews, ethical values, and common practices in the shaping of East Asian narratives in literature and film. It offers a specific method for this analysis. The interpretive goal is to arrive at interpretations that more accurately engage cultural information so that narratives are understood more closely in terms of their native cultural rather than that of the reader/interpreter.

It includes over 400 high-quality images illustrating the history of art, its technical applications, and its many uses. It introduces such issues in art as its meaning and purpose; its meaning and purpose; its structure, material, and form; and its diverse effects on our lives.
